Sri Lanka, Sept. 21 -- Deputy Minister of Plantations and Social Infrastructure Facilities, Sundaralingam Pradeep, has accused previous administrations of widespread corruption and fraud in the single-house schemes introduced upcountry, alleging that millions in public funds were wasted.

He said investigations are already under way and pledged that the present Government will take stern action against those responsible. In an exclusive interview with the Sunday Observer this week, the Deputy Minister also addressed youth representation, housing, wages, land rights, and the Government's broader development plans for the Malaiyaha Tamil community.
