Sri Lanka, Sept. 9 -- Maldives once again showed their power over Sri Lanka, crushing the hosts 3-0 in the opening match of the South Asian Super Cup under lights at the Racecourse Grounds in Colombo yesterday after leading 2-0 at half time.

The visitors, who have a long record of success against Sri Lanka, took control early and never looked back. They struck twice in the space of four minutes in the first half to silence the home crowd.

In the 30th minute, the Maldives broke through with the opening goal. Just four minutes later, the 'Red Shirts' doubled their lead, easily breaching the Sri Lankan defence as goal-keeper and Captain Sujan Perera was left stranded.
