Sri Lanka, Feb. 1 -- The lack of proper leadership has been the key reason behind the failure of previous education reforms in Sri Lanka, former Chairperson of the National Committee on Education Reforms, Prof. Gunapala Nanayakkara told a seminar on the subject over the weekend.

"Ministers came and went, but within the Ministry of Education, the National Education Commission, or the National Education Institute, who was ultimately responsible was not clear. Therefore, it is imperative to find a solution to the leadership issue," Prof. Nanayakkara said.
