Sri Lanka, Aug. 10 -- Sri Lanka yesterday expressed deep concern over the decision by the Government of Israel to seize full control of Gaza City.
A statement issued by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs said that such a course of action will lead to further escalation of violence and suffering for the people of war-torn Gaza.
"Sri Lanka calls for an immediate ceasefire and urges all parties to resolve their differences through diplomatic dialogue in order to establish sustainable peace," the Ministry said. The announcement came following the approval by Israel's Security Cabinet to fully occupy most of Gaza Strip and bring the region under the rule of Israel.
