Sri Lanka, Sept. 21 -- Suraj Nilanga, father of Vihanga Thejan, who died in the 2019 Easter Sunday bombings at Colombo's Shangri-La Hotel, called for urgent justice for the victims during the 60th session of the United Nations Human Rights Council (UNHRC).

Nilanga addressed the session on Friday. Speaking on behalf of the Centre for Society and Religion (CSR) and Franciscan International, Nilanga emphasised the need for a "thorough, independent, and swift" criminal investigation to bring all perpetrators to account. He called upon the Government to conduct comprehensive economic, social, and psychological assessments to support survivors and the families of the deceased.
