Srilanka, March 23 -- The Department of Prisons has enhanced security for suspended Inspector General of Police (IGP) Deshabandu Tennakoon, who is held in remand custody at the Dumbara Prison in Pallekele. The new security arrangement was enforced in compliance with court orders, according to a source.
Tennakoon was produced before the Matara Magistrate's Court on March 20, where he was remanded until April 3. After the hearing, he was transferred to the Dumbara Prison.
On February 28, the Matara Magistrate's Court issued arrest warrants for eight people, including Tennakoon, in connection with a fatal shooting. However, CID teams struggled to locate the former IGP.
