Srilanka, Nov. 23 -- It appears that in Sri Lanka today, a paradigm shift is taking place vis-a-vis the issue of corruption. This fact is being stated everywhere, even by those who are the worst opponents of this Government.

People are gradually learning that there are consequences to being corrupt. This realisation is seeping in to such an extent that it inevitably makes people wonder how our elites so far had failed us.

They failed to nail corruption; far from nail it down, they allowed it to grow and empowered the corrupt. But then, some said that there was corruption in most societies that eventually developed into economic powerhouses. So, what was so wrong in having to tolerate some of it in Sri Lanka too they asked?
