Sri Lanka, Sept. 28 -- A mother and her daughter join hundreds of others to sign a petition drawn up by the Sri Lanka Book Publishers' Association, advocating for books and publications to be tax-free. Books were previously exempt from VAT, but it was increased to 18 percent in January 2024 due to the economic crisis. The Colombo International Book Fair which began yesterday will continue till October 6.
