Sri Lanka, Aug. 10 -- The Asian Development Bank (ADB) has reportedly agreed to release US $ 90 million to the Government as the fifth tranche under the Second Integrated Road Investment Program (i-Road II), sources close to the Highways Ministry said.

The loan agreement will be signed in a couple of months, the sources said.

The decision follows recent discussions between ADB officials and the Ministry of Transport, Highways, Ports and Civil Aviation, aimed at recommencing stalled rural road development in the Uva, Eastern, Northern and Western Provinces. Launched in 2017, i-Road II is a multi-tranche financing facility with a total envelope structured across five tranches.

To date, four tranches have been signed.
