Sri Lanka, July 26 -- The National athletic championship has been put back to December 2020 due to the examinations that are to be held for school children later this year.

But before that the Athletic Association of Sri Lanka (AASL) will conduct trials in October to select a national pool in preparation to participate in international events also to be held early next year according to Lt. Gen. Palitha Fernando the president of the AASL.

This year's Nationals which is the 98th will be held over three days at the Diyagama international stadium and is without a sponsor. However, the AASL continues to conduct seminars for athletic officials to keep them updated on the methods of officiating at meets.
