Singapore, Jan. 21 -- In Singapore's culture and heritage sectors, women have been taking on leadership roles in greater numbers in the past decade.

Last year saw a new crop of women taking the helm at various arts institutions.

Ms Goh Swee Chen, 59, succeeded Professor Chan Heng Chee, 77, as chairman of the National Arts Council last September while Ms Chung May Khuen, 45, took over the reins at the National Museum of Singapore from Ms Angelita Teo, 48, who left to run the Olympic Foundation for Culture and Heritage in Lausanne, Switzerland.

Poet Pooja Nansi, 38, and Yvonne Tham, 45, took over the reins from men. The former is the first female director of the Singapore Writers Festival since it went annual in 2010, and the latter too...
