Singapore, Nov. 14 -- By a unanimous verdict, a five-judge Bench of the Indian Supreme Court, with the Chief Justice himself sitting, ruled last Saturday that the country's most hotly contested piece of religious land in Ayodhya - claimed by Hindus as the birthplace of their Lord Rama - be handed to a trust that would build a temple onsite. A 16th-century mosque once stood at the site, but was razed to the ground in 1992. The court also ruled that the Muslim community, which claimed the land, be given a five-acre site at a prominent location nearby.
