New Delhi, June 25 -- The crucial Cauvery Water Management Authority (CWMA) meeting was held here this morning amid a weak monsoon aggravating the storage situation in the reservoirs in Cauvery River basin.

As soon as the meeting began, Tamil Nadu told the Authority that Karnataka had failed to release the June quota of 9.19 TMC ft. of Cauvery water through Mettur Dam as directed by the Authority in May. Tamil Nadu also urged Karnataka to release 31.24 TMC ft. as its share under July quota.

Tamil Nadu also registered its objection over Mekedatu issue being part of today's agenda.

Tamil Nadu maintained that only 1.72 TMC ft. of water has flown from Biligundlu Reservoir to Mettur Dam, while the Authority had directed for 9.19 TMC ft.
