COLOMBO, Aug. 24 -- The state of emergency that was declared in Sri Lanka following the Easter Sunday terror attacks has come to an end with President Maithripala Sirisena not issuing any order extending it, media reports said Saturday.

However, Sirisena has issued a separate regulation under the same law to summon the armed forces for active service if and when necessary in all the administrative districts of the country, the Daily Mirror reported.

The Indian Ocean island nation has been under a state of emergency since April 22 after the deadliest terror attacks it suffered since the end of the LTTE insurgency ended in 2009.
