France, Oct. 13 -- Most positions in Prime Minister Sebastien Lecornu's new cabinet remain unchanged, and opponents who have been demanding political change vow to challenge the new government with parliamentary confidence motions. Lecornu and his new team have until Tuesday to present a draft 2026 budget - an issue that has toppled his two predecessors.

The French presidency on Sunday night announced the new line-up, with most top ministers remaining unchanged, even as Lecornu, who was reappointed Prime Minister on Friday, had pledged to appoint a cabinet of "renewal and diversity".

"A mission-driven government has been appointed to provide France with a budget before the end of the year," he wrote on X on Sunday.
