France, March 28 -- French President Emmanuel Macron underlined the global need to fight malnutrition amid uncertainty over global development aid funding, as Paris hosts the Nutrition for Growth summit. By the end of the first day, the summit had seen pledges of €25 billion.
France is hosting the third edition of the international Nutrition for Growth summit in Paris on Thursday and Friday.
Between hunger and undernutrition - but also obesity and diseases linked to processed foods lacking nutrients - more than 2.8 billion people are suffering from malnutrition worldwide, in both the Global South and the Global North, according to the United Nations Food and Agriculture Organisation.
