France, April 22 -- As the Vatican announces that the funeral of Pope Francis will take place on Saturday at 10am local time, world leaders, representatives of other religions and the Catholic faithful around the world have been reacting to the death of the pontiff on Monday, 21 April.

Pope Francis will be laid to rest on Saturday after lying in state in St. Peter's Basilica, where the faithful are expected to flock to pay their respects from Wednesday. The funeral will take place outdoors in St. Peter's Square.
