KATHMANDU, July 26 -- The Supreme Court on Sunday denied giving an interim order to halt the plan of Election Commission(EC) to settle the demand put forth by both the factions of the Rastriya Janata Party (JSP) to recognize them as official party by counting the number of Central Executive Committee members.

The Mahantha Thakur-led faction of JSP had earlier knocked the doors of the apex court demanding an order to halt the process of EC to grant official recognition to the Upendra Yadav-led faction in the party by counting the majority of the central executive committee members. The Yadav-led faction of the JSP has a majority of central members.
