RUPANDEHI, March 30 -- Police on Friday tore down an office of the underground Netra Biram Chand-led group's office in Butwal.

The house named as Red House was demolished after the party leaders went underground following a ban on their activities by the government. The building initially used by Rastriya Banijya Bank had been captured by former rebel Maoists. Of late, the Chand-led group was using the building as its district office.

After Chand's cadres left the office to go underground, a group of police and bank officials removed the party's flags and banners and padlocked the house. On Friday, police demolished the building that was occupied by political parties for the last 13 years.
