KATHMANDU, May 12 -- Nepal and India have jointly announced the visit of Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi to Lumbini on May 16.

Indian PM Modi will pay an official visit to Lumbini, Nepal on the auspicious occasion of Buddha Jayanti on Monday at the invitation of PM Sher Bahadur Deuba. PM Modi and Deuba will participate in a prayer at the Mayadevi Temple, lay the foundation stone for the construction of a center for Buddhist culture and heritage at the Monastic Zonein Lumbini, according to the statement.
