KATHMANDU, Feb. 2 -- Lawmakers have expressed concern over the repeated cases of self-immolation taking place in various parts of the country.

Taking time in the meeting of the House of Representatives on Wednesday, Nepali Congress General Secretary Gagan Kumar Thapa demanded that the government give compensation to the small farmers whose chickens were destroyed to control the bird flu. Speaking at zero time in the House of Representatives, General Secretary Thapa urged the government to understand the problem of farmers who are in distress for not being able to pay their bank loans.
