World Bank Managing Director Visits Bhutan, Pledges Strong Support
Bhutan, May 20 -- World Bank Managing Director for Operations Anna Bjerde today concluded her first visit to Bhutan, reaffirming the World Bank Group's strong and expanding support to help the country achieve its economic and development goals. During her audience with H.M. King Jigme Khesar Namgyel Wangchuck, Bjerde commended Bhutan's remarkable strides in accelerating economic growth and reducing poverty while demonstrating that modernity and heritage can coexist. Bjerde launched the World Bank Group's new Country Partnership Framework for Bhutan for the next five years.
