Jan De Nul launches the world's largest cable-laying vessel Fleeming Jenkin
Belgium, Oct. 22 -- Jan De Nul has launched its newest cable-laying vessel, the Fleeming Jenkin, which the company will use to install subsea cables for renewable energy transmission. With a loading capacity of 28,000 tonnes, the vessel is the largest of its kind worldwide. Delivery is scheduled for the second half of 2026, the company said in a statement. The launch took place at the CMHI Haimen shipyard in China by flooding the dry dock. The vessel now enters its final construction phase, including sea trials. Once operational, the Fleeming Jenkin will start its first assignment under TenneT's 2GW Program, which introduces a new generation of offshore grid connection systems.
