Spain, Nov. 26 -- The Vicepresident of the Dominican Republic, Raquel Pena, today inaugurated Cotoperi Solar (162.6MWp), the largest photovoltaic complex in Central America and the Caribbean, located in Guaymate, La Romana.The ceremony was attended by the Dominican Republic's Minister of Energy and Mines, Joel Santos; the President of ACCIONA, Jose Manuel Entrecanales; the Executive President of JMMB Dominican Republic, Juan Jose Melo; and the CEO of Grupo Pais, Juan Carlos Pais.Made up of three solar plants, Cotoperi Solar will generate 286GWh of clean energy annually, preventing over 210,000 tons of CO? emissions - equivalent to planting more than 5.5 million trees.ACCIONA Energia holds a 51% majority stake in the project.
