Celebrating the 60th Anniversary of JICA's Volunteer Program
Japan, Feb. 14 -- 2025 marks the 60th anniversary of JICA's Volunteer Program, which began in 1965 with the dispatch of 29 Japan Overseas Cooperation Volunteers to five countries: Laos, Cambodia, Malaysia, the Philippines, and Kenya.Over the past six decades, JICA volunteers have contributed their expertise and experience toward supporting people in developing countries across more than nine fields and 190 professions, including agriculture, forestry and fisheries, health and medicine, social welfare, commerce, and tourism.
