BASF completes the sale of its Brazilian decorative paints business to Sherwin-Williams
Brazil, Oct. 2 -- The sale of BASF's Brazilian decorative paints business to Sherwin-Williams was completed on October 1, 2025, following the approval of the transaction by the relevant Brazilian competition authority at the end of August 2025. On a cash and debt-free basis, the purchase price amounted to $1.15 billion.The transaction included the production sites in Demarchi and Jaboatao, related contracts, the Suvinil and Glasu! brands, and the around 1,000 employees. The decorative paints business, which generated sales of approximately $525 million (approximately €485 million) in 2024, was BASF's only sizeable B2C business.
