All monopile foundations installed at Denmark's largest offshore wind farm
Denmark, Sept. 25 -- RWE has taken an important step in the construction of the 1.1-gigawatt (GW) Thor offshore wind farm in the Danish North Sea: Over the past five months all 72 monopile foundations for the wind turbines have been successfully installed.The monopiles are around 100 metres in length and weigh up to 1,500 metric tonnes each. This is roughly equivalent to the weight of 1,000 small cars. The monopiles were shipped from the heavy-lift terminal in Eemshaven, in the Netherlands, to the Thor construction site in the Danish North Sea.
