United Kingdom, April 14 -- The Orkney Islands Council, in the north of Scotland, has awarded ACCIONA (70%) and local firm Jones Bros (30%) a contract for the initial study and potential development (ECI-Early Contractor Involvement) of a multipurpose port facility at Scapa. The project includes more than 600 meters of quay length and a depth of between 15 and 20 meters, as well as an access road from the A961 motorway to the port. During the first phase of the project, progress will be made on the design of the quay, the adjacent esplanade, dredging in the berthing area and earthworks, with the aim of establishing the budget for the future works, which, once approved, could amount to more than €200 million.
