The Samajwadi Party demanded implementation of rules for reservation for Schedule Castes and Other Backward Classes in the appointment of 69,000 teachers by Basic Education department.
SP chief Akhilesh Yadav said on Saturday that meritorious candidates from these classes should be counted in general category instead of reserved category and there should be no manipulations in recruitment.
Akhilesh said that appointment of 69,000 teachers was underway in Basic Education department of Uttar Pradesh. He said as per a High Court decision, on the basis of 65 per cent marks for general category and 60 per cent marks for OBC candidates, about 1.45 lakh candidates had been declared successful by the department.
