New Delhi, Dec. 10 -- A day after the fire tragedy in Delhi claiming lives of 43 people, the Rajya Sabha on Monday called for steps to prevent recurrence of fire accidents. Chairman M Venkaiah Naidu said lack of adequate safety measures was a matter of concern. Vijay Goel(BJP) and Sanjay Singh(AAP) also spoke briefly about the incident and called for soul searching. The House observed silence as a mark of respect for the deceased.

As the House met for the day, Naidu mentioned the fire incident and said the loss of lives was very unfortunate and painful. He said lack of adequate safety measures was a matter of concern.
