Lucknow, Oct. 24 -- After the arrest of prime accused and Bharatiya Janata Party leader Dhirendra Pratap Singh in the shooting incident at Ballia recently, the police managed to recover the murder weapon, a licensed revolver, from his native Durjanpur hamlet on Friday.

Arrested by the Special Task Force (STF) from Lucknow on Sunday, Dhirendra Pratap Singh is presently on police remand.

Singh opened fire in the presence of a sub-divisional magistrate and a circle officer at Durjanpur during a meeting in which ration shops were to be allotted. His rival Jai Prakash alias Gama Pal died, while several persons from both sides were injured in the incident.
