Mumbai, Oct. 20 -- In what came as a huge relief to the state health authorities, the Covid 19-triggered deaths dropped to 125 and the inflections plummeted to 5,984 in Maharashtra on Monday, even as the total number of infections in the state crossed a grim 16 lakh milestone.

A day after the state logged 150 deaths, the Covid-19 curve appeared to be flattening, as the deaths came down to as low as 125 and infections dropped to a low of 5984. Both the fatalities and infections recorded on Monday were the lowest during the last four months.

With 125 fresh deaths, the total number of deaths mounted from 42,115 to 42,240.
