However, experts warn that fruits left sliced for long periods - especially at room temperature - could do more harm than good. When fruits are cut, their protective outer layer is removed, exposing the flesh to air, light, and microbes. This triggers oxidation, reducing their nutritional value and leading to the growth of harmful bacteria.
