Jammu, May 28 -- The Jammu & Kashmir Prisons department is gearing up to launch an intensive vaccination drive for the jail inmates above 45 years of age across both the central jails in Jammu and Srinagar besides one dozen district and sub jails in the region.

According to official sources, "over 150 jail inmates have been tested positive for coronavirus in the recent weeks across different jails".

The highest number of 72 inmates tested positive while they were lodged in Udhampur district jail and 53 Rohingyas shifted to a holding centre set up inside sub-jail Hiranagar also tested positive recently.
