Lucknow, Nov. 23 -- A Bharatiya Janata Party councillor in Deoria has complained to the higher authorities of the party, including Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, that the local Member of Parliament thrashed him at his residence here on November 19.

The councillor, Ashutosh Tiwari, in his letter on Sunday alleged that the local BJP MP from Deoria, Ramapati Ram Tripathi, and his supporters thrashed him at his residence.

He also alleged that one of the supporters of the MP whipped out a pistol to shoot him during the incident.

However, the MP contradicted the charges.
