Bhopal, July 17 -- A photo exhibition titled 'Island Cultures of India' was inaugurated by RK Chaturvedi, IAS (AS&FA, Ministry of Culture, Government of India) at Rock Art Heritage indoor exhibition hall of Indira Gandhi Rashtiya Manav Sangrahalaya.

The present Photo Exhibition explores diverse cultural ecology in the islands of Andaman and Nicobar, Lakshadweep, Brahmaputra river island of Assam, floating villages of Loktak Lake, Manipur and the coastal lagoon of Odisha.

Generally, the connotation of an island begins with a unique and naturally formed area of land, surrounded by water. It has been generally conceptualized as closed, self-sustaining eco-system with water as natural barrier providing life to flourish in harmony with nature....
