Manila, Jan. 27 -- Public utility vehicle (PUV) operators who will not modernize their units will face the prospective franchise revocation, which in turn will be given to those who have complied with the government's program to upgrade the mass transport system. This was according to Aminoden Guro, the Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board-10 (LTFRB-10) director, who said PUV operators are given only until June 30, 2020 to comply with the public utility vehicle modernization program (PUVMP). Guro said existing transport groups that have not yet adopted the PUVMP will lose their franchise as some operators have already organized themselves into cooperatives and corporations and are in the process of modernizing their fleet.
