Manila, April 22 -- The National Grid Corporation of the Philippines (NGCP) has intensified its monitoring of transmission facilities following the earthquake that shook a wide area of Luzon, causing power outages in some provinces.

In an advisory, the grid operator said it has activated a 24/7 monitoring to check "the status of transmission facilities in Luzon, following the earthquake which occurred today, April 22."

It said power outages were registered in Pangasinan, Pampanga, La Union, and Bataan.

"The provinces of Quezon, Batangas, Camarines Sur, and Sorsogon were also affected but have been restored," it said.
