Bhubaneswar, Dec. 14 -- In a tragic incident, a farmer was reportedly burnt to death while burning paddy stubble in a field at Sunamuhin village under Pipili police station limits in Puri district on Sunday. The charred body of the farmer was later recovered from the agricultural land, sending shockwaves in the area.

The deceased has been identified as Gajendra Swain, a resident of the village. According to preliminary information, the mishap occurred when Gajendra had gone to his field after harvesting the paddy crop. He was reportedly burning the remaining stubble, a common practice adopted by farmers to clear fields for the next cultivation cycle.
