Bhubaneswar, May 6 -- Bhubaneswar: The Odisha Police has collected penalty of more than Rs 15 crore from people for violating Covid-19 norms enforced to stem the spread of Covid-19 in the State so far.

In a media briefing, Director General of Police (DGP) Abhay said, the hefty amount has been collected from disobedient people for mask rule and social distancing violation. The police have so far arrested as many as 553 people for the offence.

The top cop said fine amounting over Rs 6 crore has been collected only from the people for not wearing masks.
