Bhubaneswar, March 12 -- Top-order batsman Shreyas Iyer was unable to bat following the dismissal of Cheteshwar Pujara during the ongoing fourth Test match between India and Australia in Ahmedabad.

Iyer could not bat on day three of the match after complaining of lower back pain. All-rounder Ravindra Jadeja was sent up the order. On the following day, wicketkeeper-batter KS Bharat joined Virat Kohli in the middle after Jadeja got out.

Revealing the reason behind, Iyer's absence in the top order, BCCI confirmed that the right-handed batsman has been taken for scans and is being monitored by the medical team. However, it is unclear whether he will be able to bat in India's first innings.
