Bhubaneswar, Jan. 13 -- Covid-19 cases in Odisha today breached the 10,000-mark with 10,059 infections reported in the last 24 hours. Amid the unprecedented trend, the State Director of Health Services Bijay Mohapatra said the single-day count in Odisha is likely to cross the second wave peak in the next few days.

The State had recorded the highest single-day cases on May 22, 2021 with a total of 12,852 infections, as per a data revealed by the State Information and Public Relations (I&PR) Department.

Speaking about the sharp rise in Covid-19 daily case count, Mohapatra said," The infection has been surging day by day and the daily cases might breach the peak registered during the second wave in a few days."
