Bhubaneswar, March 28 -- A jawan of the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) allegedly died by suicide after shooting himself with his service gun in Padmapur of Bargarh district on Tuesday.

The deceased has been identified as Prasannajit Pal, who hailed from West Bengal.

The reason behind his suicide is yet to be ascertained.

As per reports, Pal was serving at the 189 battalions of CRPF camp in the Maoist-infested Padmapur area under Jagdalpur police station in Bargarh district. The camp was near the border of Chhattisgarh. The jawan was having his duty on a watch tower from 10 pm to 12 am on Monday night. Later, his lifeless body was discovered by his colleagues.
