Bhubaneswar, Feb. 17 -- A Panchayat Executive Officer (PEO) from Chikiti, who had allegedly consumed poison, passed away while undergoing treatment at MKCGMedical College and Hospital in Berhampur on Tuesday.

The deceased has been identified as Dandapani Patra. According to sources, he was admitted to MKCG after reportedly consuming poison. Despite medical intervention, he succumbed during treatment.

The incident has drawn attention after it came to light that an Additional Tehsildar had recently levelled allegations of inappropriate behaviour against the PEO.
