AYODHYA, Nov. 7 -- Before the Supreme Court's decision in the Ayodhya land dispute case, the Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) has stopped the work of carving stones for the construction of Ram temple. For the first time since 1990, the VHP has stopped cutting stones. VHP spokesman Sharad Sharma said that all the artisans engaged in this work have returned to their homes. He said that VHP leaders have decided to stop the work of carving stones.

The Supreme Court can pronounce judgment in the Ram Janmabhoomi-Babri Masjid demolition case before 17 November. On this day, Chief Justice Ranjan Gogoi is retiring, who has presided over a five-judge bench hearing arguments on the matter.
