New Delhi, July 15 -- India's ambitious Mumbai-Ahmedabad bullet train project reached a significant milestone on Monday with the breakthrough of the first 2.7-kilometre section of the undersea tunnel between Ghansoli and Shilphata in Maharashtra.

This tunnel section is part of the larger 21-kilometre undersea stretch connecting the Bandra-Kurla Complex (BKC) and Thane. The breakthrough represents a major step forward in the construction phase of the project.

Work on track laying, overhead electrical wiring, stations, and bridges is progressing rapidly, particularly in Maharashtra. Simultaneously, procurement efforts for operational and control systems are advancing steadily.
