New Delhi, April 3 -- The Lok Sabha passed the Waqf (Amendment) Bill 2025. 288 Members Voted in Favour and 232 Members Voted Against the Bill. The House also gave approval to the Mussalman Wakf (Repeal) Bill 2024 which repeals Mussalman Wakf Act 1923.
Earlier, the Lok Sabha held discussion on the Waqf (Amendment) Bill, 2025 as reported by the Joint Parliamentary Committee. Union Minority Affairs Minister Kiren Rijiju moved the bill in the Lok Sabha this afternoon. Moving the bill, the Minister said that the Bill has nothing to do with the religious practice of Muslims and it only deals with the properties related to Waqf Boards.
