New Delhi, Jan. 5 -- India has become the world's largest rice producer, with output crossing 150 million tonnes in 2025, surpassing China, Agriculture Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan said on Sunday.
He made the announcement during the launch of 184 new crop varieties developed by the Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR), highlighting India's growing role in global rice production and exports.
Chouhan emphasized that these achievements underscore the country's advancements in agricultural research, innovation, and productivity, strengthening India's position as a major contributor to global food security.
