New Delhi, Oct. 17 -- On the occasion of International Day for the Eradication of Poverty, West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee highlighted her government's commitment towards the eradication of poverty.

She said, besides reducing unemployment, combating illiteracy and upholding human rights, the state government of West Bengal holds commitment towards alleviating poverty.

October 17 has been designated as the International Day for the Eradication of Poverty by the United Nations General Assembly.
