New Delhi, Jan. 20 -- Chief of Defence Staff (CDS) General Bipin Rawat and Chief of Air Staff (CAS) Air Chief Marshal R. K. S. Bhadauria are all set to induct the first BrahMos-equipped Sukhoi-30 MKI squadron today, January 20. The first squadron of the multi-role fighter is to be inducted at the Thanjavur airbase.

A huge addition to India's operational capabilities, the Su-30MKI fighter aircraft squadron is the first for the southern India and is tasked to look after maritime role, said Air Chief Marshal R. K. S. Bhadauria. Named Tiger Sharks, the squadron will be commissioned with about four-six fighters, the number of which will be increased to 18 by the end of 2020.
